Christmas, A story of HOPE

What is your hope today? Who do you put your hope in? I believe it would be safe to say that a lot of us are hoping on something. A new job, healing, restoration, marriage, children. The list goes on and on. Unfortunately, I also believe that for some of us there is no hope at all for anything or anyone. The feeling of hopelessness can happen to any one of us at any given time. It's understandable. We live in a world that is less than perfect. The battle is real. It can be too much to handle. I could go on and on about the many scenarios where we can loose hope. Instead, let me just ask you to fill in the blank here and make it personal:

"I have lost hope in ______________________."

Let me encourage you. Jesus can take your hopelessness and turn it into hope. He can do the impossible. For example, He raised the dead (John 11:1-44) He parted the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21) He fed 5,000 with only 5 loaves of bread and two fish (Matthew 14:17-21) These are just a few examples. Nothing is too hard for Him...nothing! (Genesis 18:14) (Matt. 19:26) ( Luke 1:37) ( Jeremiah 32:27) He is the Good Shepherd.

Christmas is the story of Hope. A baby, born of a virgin , [ Immanuel, God with us (Isaiah 7:14) The full manifestation of God in the flesh (1 Tim 3:16) ] to deliver us from the wages of sin which is death (Romans 6:23) and to give all who believe in Him eternal life. He also gives us an abundant life here on this side of heaven ( John 10:10) . Abundant here in this verse means: more, greater, excessive, abundant, exceedingly, vehemently. That is good news!

We aren't promised a trouble free life. In fact, Jesus himself said we would have tribulation but to take courage because He has overcome the world (John 16:33). I know in my own life I would not be standing if it hadn't been for the grace of God through Jesus. Many days I have wanted to give up...stop trying...stop hoping...stop believing. It hasn't been easy. I would not have made it through some terrible things had it not been for Him. In the tough times, I turn to Him and He helps me. He is a very present help in time of trouble (Psalm 46:1) He has remained faithful to me. The moment I surrendered my life to Him, He has done nothing but help me. He has given me a peace that surpasses all understanding in the midst of worry, fear and anxiety. A hope of eternal life that I never had before. He wants to help you too.

Give Him your seemingly hopeless situation so you can change your sentence to read: "I have hope for ___________________ . "

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
